ADVANCE VOTING WEEK IS UNDERWAY!
Advance Voting Week for the November 4, 2008 Georgia General Election starts Monday, October 27, 2008 and ends Friday, October 31, 2008.
Monday through Friday, registered voters in Georgia may cast their ballot in person at any Early Voting location in their county, regardless of the precinct in which they reside. Many counties will open additional voting locations with extended hours during this week.
Find Early Voting locations and hours of operation in your county via the links below. Note: hours may vary between locations.
For other questions about Early Voting in your county (or to confirm hours of operation), please contact your local county registrar. Official contact information may be found on the Georgia Secretary of State's website here or by calling the SOS Voter Information Hotline at (888) 265-1115.

WAIT TIMES AT EARLY VOTING LOCATIONS
The turnout for Early Voting in Georgia has been unprecedented. So far, almost a million voters have cast votes in-person or by mail.
The extended hours and additional voting locations during Advance Voting Week will help ease wait times, but be prepared. Bring water, snacks, books, folding chairs or whatever you need to be comfortable while you wait.
The shortest wait times have been in the early morning (at opening time), or late evening (before closing time). The longest wait times have been just before and after lunch.

ARE YOU A FIRST TIMER?
For those taking advantage of Early Voting for the first time, the experience is very similar to voting on Election Day. When you arrive at one of your county's Early Voting locations, you will be given a short form to fill out, and will be asked to present one of the acceptable forms of ID. Next, you'll be directed to the Express Poll station, where a poll worker will verify that you are registered to vote in that county. Once verified, you will be given a ballot card (a yellow plastic card the size of a credit card), and be directed to the next available voting machine. Simply insert the yellow card into the slot on the machine and follow the instructions on the screen. When you have finished voting, the machine will automatically eject the ballot card. Take the card back to the Express Poll worker and get your "I'm a Georgia Voter" sticker!

VOTE BUT DON'T PROMOTE
Please remind friends and family (especially young voters) not to wear shirts, caps, stickers or any item with a candidate's name or likeness on it when going to vote. These items are not permitted at polling places and poll workers will turn away anyone wearing such items.
From the Georgia Election Code: No person may campaign; distribute literature of written or printed matter of any kind; wear campaign buttons, signs, pins, stickers, T-shirts, etc.; circulate petitions; or perform similar activities within 150 feet of the building in which a polling place is located.

DON'T STOP AT THE TOP!
There are many important races further down the ballot in 2008, beyond those for President, US House and US Senate. There are Georgia State House, State Senate and judicial candidates all counting on your vote to put them over the top! As well, there are important constitutional amendments on the ballot that you can help decide. Please vote the entire ballot in 2008. It only takes about 5 minutes longer and you'll feel better for it!
